About Gilbert

It wasn’t all that long ago that the town of Gilbert was little more than a farming community in Maricopa County. Originally founded by Bobby Gilbert, a man that provided the stretch of land that became Gilbert proper to the Arizona Eastern Railway in 1902 for a rail line that ran between Florence and Phoenix, up until the 1980s there wasn’t much more than farms in this area. During the big tech boom of the 1980s and 1990s, however, Gilbert was made over completely. It’s population has been growing by 13% on average every single year since then, and today it is the most populated incorporated town in the United States.
